Hyundai Upgrades 2025 IONIQ 5 with Longer Range, New XRT Model

The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric vehicle lineup receives significant enhancements, boasting increased battery capacity, extended driving range, and innovative new features. The lineup now includes the rugged IONIQ 5 XRT model, which will be the first Hyundai in Canada manufactured at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia.

The refreshed 2025 IONIQ 5 models offer improved battery capacities, with Standard Range models featuring a 63.0 kWh battery and Long Range models ranging from 77.4 to 84 kWh. This translates to increased driving ranges across the lineup, with the Preferred Long Range AWD now targeting over 402 to 450+ km and the Preferred Long Range RWD aiming for more than 499 km.

A key highlight of the 2025 IONIQ 5 XRT is its compatibility with the Tesla Supercharger network. The XRT model will be equipped with the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to over 17,000 Superchargers. Other models will feature a Combined Charging System (CCS) port, with adapters available for NACS compatibility.

The interior of the 2025 IONIQ 5 has been updated with redesigned HVAC controls and an upgraded infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across the range. Higher trims, including the XRT, will feature Hyundai Digital Key 2 Premium for enhanced convenience.

The new IONIQ 5 XRT model is designed for off-road enthusiasts, featuring a dual motor AWD system with an 84 kWh battery and a 23mm suspension lift. Its unique design elements include a digital camo finish and 18-inch aluminum wheels with an IONIQ pixel theme. The XRT also boasts improved approach and departure angles for better off-road performance.

Inside, the XRT offers H-Tex seating surfaces with exclusive patterns and badging. Buyers can choose from new colour options like Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl.

Safety enhancements for the 2025 IONIQ 5 lineup include Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and improved side collision protection with eight airbags. The vehicle's usability has been improved with a re-positioned wireless charging pad and physical controls for frequently used functions in the center console.

Hyundai has yet to announce official pricing for the 2025 IONIQ 5 range. The standard models are expected to arrive at Canadian dealerships later this year, with the XRT model following in Q1 2025.
